Holy Thursday & Spring is Here!

by debi9kids on March 20, 2008

It seems very appropriate today that we would be celebrating the first day of spring on the same day we celebrate Holy Thursday. Spring represents to me a new beginning and The Last Supper was the beginning of what led to a new beginning for believers in Christ.

Tonite our family celebrated the day with bread & wine, as is tradition, and had a feast of fishes.

I actually prepared unleavened bread for the meal and although I have made it before and we aren’t all that fond of the taste, what it represents is all that matters on this night.UNLEAVENED BREAD
3 C flour
2 T oil or butter
3 large eggs
1/2 C water or milk
1 t salt

Combine flour and salt.
Combine eggs and oil; beat, then add egg mixture to flour.
Add milk, beat hard for 2-3 minutes.
Pour into three 8″ square greased pans. Bake at 450° for 20 minutes.

We will finish off our night by settling in to watch The Gospel of John with the kids tonite.

*As a side note, today is the first day of spring and upon inspection, some flowers are finally beginning to peek up from under the leaves & mulch.
Stephanie took my camera outside today and took some pictures of what we found.
