It’s Fragment Time…

by debi9kids on July 28, 2011

There has been a lot going on and I haven’t had the time to post like I normally do, so I figured I would give you some fragments of our week….

Will is an incredibly picky eater. It used to drive me crazy, but I just can’t let it bother me anymore. I know he’s picky because of his autism and sensory issues and not because I’m a bad mom, so I try my best to let it slide. It doesn’t mean we don’t try to get him to eat new foods (we do all the time) but it generally means he is going to throw the food to the floor and expect one of his 10 acceptable foods to eat. (ok, he probably eats more than 10 foods, but most days it feels like it’s only 3)
All of this brings me to “a funny” this past week when I decided, yet again, to get Will to eat pancakes for breakfast. He took one look at it and threw it to the floor.
Keith, sitting in the kitchen watching, says, ” Well, you know mom, he is toast intolerant.”

Heehee… or LACTOSE intolerant, Keith 😉

Alex is playing football this year! (all 118 pounds of him.)
Although he’s a freshman and it’s is first time ever playing football, because we live in such a small town, he may actually be playing on our school’s varsity team (and that terrifies me).
He is completely and totally excited about playing, especially since he just returned home with his team yesterday after a 4 day football camp at a college and apparently had a blast.

For the first time ever, this up-coming school year, ALL of my kids will be attending school, which means I will have the house all to myself for at least a few hours every morning before Emma and Will return home from pre-k.
What the heck am I supposed to do with that???
Craft? Read? Write? Exercise? Housework un-interrupted housework?
Oh my! I think I might enjoy myself just a little bit…

Some of you might remember from my 365 blog that I shared before pictures of what has become our new master bedroom. Well, while it isn’t completely finished yet {read: I’m not ready to post pictures } I did want to share something I put on my wall:

(it looks crooked, but it’s not. It’s the angle I took the pic;)
Anyway, I think it seems like the perfect statement for my new bedroom. Don’t you?

Every now and then, Stephanie surprises me and decides to do a photo shoot with my little ones, and usually on my camera.
Yesterday, when I came home from shopping, she asked me to download my camera and I found some great shots:

Next week, on Monday, we are taking all of the kids to see the new Winnie the Pooh movie. This will be the first time we have EVER taken either Emma or Will to the movie theater and I’m really excited for them. I know Emma is going to love it and behave and somehow, because it’s Pooh, I have a feeling that Will is going to be over the moon 🙂

We’re going camping this weekend!
We leave tomorrow and will be gone for 4 glorious days.
All of us are so excited to be away and can’t wait to just sit by the fire each night, roasting marshmallows, and singing campfire songs…

And, finally, the date is coming up.
I thought I would be more worried about “the anniversary”.
It’s been a long year. Long.
But, somehow, as much as it’s a crappy date, it’s also a day to celebrate…
we made it almost a year since I found out about her.
I took my blog private briefly out of fear, but I have no fear now.
No matter what, I know we will survive together.
Happily.
It will be a good feeling when that day arrives to be able to say, “365 days ago, I thought my world was over, but 365 days later, it is, in fact, better than it ever was.”
