Playing Catch-Up

by debi9kids on November 4, 2011

With all of the craziness of the past week and a half, I am left feeling like I have SO much to talk about and no time to do it.
I’m going to cram all of what’s swirling around in my head into one post 🙂

October 27th my mom’s town held Trick-or-Treating. I have NO clue why it’s held early or why it’s on a school night on purpose, but turns out it was a good idea (thanks to snow) even though it was raining most of the night while we walked from house to house.

It was fun just how much the houses in my mom’s town decorate and I was impressed with the amount of candy they were handing out.

Just days later, we were hit with a snow storm,
in October,
something we never expected but it sure made for some very excited kids (and empty store shelves 😉 )

Sadly, all of this crazy weather has also led to our first real colds of the “winter” and poor Emma and Will are both sick and on antibiotics. And, for the first time, I made the commitment to actually find us a new pediatrician here in PA after 2 years of traveling back and forth to NJ every time someone was sick. I think I’ve gotten really lucky and I am pretty sure I have found someone who is going to be aggressive where Will’s care is concerned and that has always been very important to me.

November 1st my mom and I got the call from my sister Beth that her twin, Erin, was in labor. After finding out Erin’s water had broken, she was already 5cm and the doctors were expecting her to “go” fast, mom and I decided to drive down to NJ to be there when the baby arrived.
We arrived at the hospital around 8pm to find that Erin’s labor had slowed to very minimal contractions and the epidural was making my poor sister very sleepy.
My mom, sister Beth, brother Jason & his wife Yesenia and sister Missy and I all went down to get coffee, giving Erin time to rest and hoping her contractions would pick up again with a few doses of pitocin.
Unfortunately, it didn’t.
Around 2am, mom and I realized the baby was not going to be arriving any time soon and we had to head back to PA (kids had school in the morning).
We drove 3 hours home, stopping only once when…
we hit a deer!
Yes. We hit a deer shortly before 5am.
Thankfully, it ran off, seemingly unharmed and mom’s van sustained no damage {sidenote: we ALL know if I had been driving, with the luck I’ve been having, that the car would’ve been totaled.}
We arrived home shortly after 5, with enough time to sneak in an hour and half of sleep before the kids had to be up for school but the bonus when we did wake up:
finding out I had a new nephew!

(Mom and I haven’t seen little Ryder in person yet, but Russ was lucky enough to sneak in some cuddles after work and we’ve been sent lots of pictures and videos and he’s beautiful!)

Our plan is to make a trip to NJ some time this weekend to get in some much needed lovin’, especially since tomorrow is my kids’ last day at their school and they will likely be out of school for a few days next week while the new school processes the paperwork.
It’s been… something else.

But, in actuality, it hasn’t been bad at all.
Staying with my parents is humbling, but my parents and siblings are awesome and aside from the massive amounts of beverages and food we’re going through, it’s actually been surprisingly calm in the house and very organized.

We have some “things” in the works and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

hee hee… Timmy wound up being superman too even though he had three new costumes….but that was the only one that didn't require a hat or hood.

the houses on this street are AWESOME! If you wanted to pick a street in my mom's town to live on, this is it. EVERY house is literally a mansion.

LOL about your signature. I hear ya mama! I feel like I rarely have a moment to pee 😉

Well you know we have no Halloween here, and no snow, So maybe come over to Africa for a bit….

Anyways, sounds like you guys are doing well and keeping you in my prayers.

And congratulations!

where have you gone Cindy??? I miss you and went to write on your FB and you're gone 🙁
I hope everything is ok. I miss you. (not too many people seem to understand my misery the way you do, my friend. Is that sad for us, or what?)
