It’s brings out the crazy

by debi9kids on November 28, 2011

Thanksgiving is usually all about the bird.
Unless, of course, you’re me.
Then, of course, Thanksgiving day is all about getting the right photos for my Christmas card.
Well, and about being thankful, of course 😉

I wish I could say I am one of those laid-back moms who just relaxes and snaps pictures and eventually says,” Ok, that will be fine.”

In fact, I am a nutjob.
I admit it.
I wish I wasn’t.
I wish I could just let the kids wear whatever they want, pose however they’re comfortable and just go-with-the-flow.

Sadly, I can’t.

There was this episode of Modern Family (it was last Halloween) that spoke to me and “my crazy”.
Claire, the mom, LOSES her mind when Halloween falls apart and it’s not “perfect” and she goes off on her family because, although Halloween is a “stupid holiday”, it’s her holiday.

While I can not stake sole claim on Thanksgiving, it is my holiday,
the one holiday where it truly matters to me if it’s “perfect” and unfortunately for me (and my family) it means…
losing my mind until the photos are taken.

And so, my kids humor me,
and dress in matching outfits I pick out,
and deal with me getting frustrated and insane while I click, and click, and click some more
until I’ve taken HUNDREDS of photos…
hoping to get just one worthy of our Christmas card.

And sometimes, I get lucky and get more than one…

and it almost makes my crazy worth it.
almost 😉

Oh Debi, You have such a beautiful family! At least your kids will be able to look back and see how they have grown through the years. I am the one who just forgets to take pix or has her phone eat them. My kids have recently noticed that there are not as many pix out as they would like. I need to change that 🙂

thank you.
I imagine at some point my kids won't be so willing… or will have their own families and I can start being nutjob grandma snapping pics of my grandbabies 🙂

Those photos turned out so great! I don't actually have a holiday that I have to do "perfectly". Thank goodness, I have too much stress as it is. =)

I love Every. Single. One! (ESPECIALLY the one of Will….that boy has forever stolen my heart!!!)

Totally worth it – makes me wish I'd waited and tried to get some better pics before making our cards. Oh well!

Oh you have some wonderful shots there. The one of Will is simply stunning – it needs to be a canvass.

I agree. It's very rare that I'm not in love with every single picture I take of my sweet boy 🙂

I've got the crazy when it comes to picture taking too (although I have less people to wrangle and make smile than you do).

Your pictures turned out fabulous!
