simply Christmas

by debi9kids on December 25, 2011

I was trying to figure out how to sum up the last two days, Christmas eve and Christmas day, and quite frankly, as I was loading my photos onto my laptop, it was staring me square in the face:
simply put, Christmas is for children and this photo sums up the holiday perfectly.
Christmas was filled with happiness, love, giving and receiving, surprise guests, good food, great company, laughs, a few tears, a few firsts (for Will) and just a feeling of overall holiday spirit.

And, as the day is coming to an exhausting end and the kids are winding down, I think of the brilliant words of Ralphie from A Christmas Story that so perfectly embody the spirit of my kids captured in this moment:

“We plunged into the cornucopia quivering with desire and the ecstasy of unbridled avarice.

I am in love with the fact that whatever life seems to throw my kids’ way, it doesn’t stop them from fully living their lives to the absolute fullest and being thankful for all of the gifts they are given, no matter how big or small.

My gift this Christmas was simply being able to see the holiday through their thankful hearts.
What a blessing.
