This past weekend, Russ and I finally got a chance to go away for real for our anniversary.
I say “for real” because 6 years ago, we did go away without the kids, but we only went away to my parent’s second home.
This weekend, we went to a Bed and Breakfast.
I know!
For realz.
I almost can’t believe it myself.
But, Russ booked us a suite at the Annville Inn in Pennsylvania and away we went…
While the Inn looks like a “regular” home in photos, it is anything but inside and the grounds outside were just beautiful.
(I’m sure SO much more so when the hundreds of roses are in bloom).
Our suite, the Great Southwest Room, had it’s own private entrance from the back of the Inn (by the hot tub and the pool).
.
Thanks to our cross country trip last year, our suite reminded us a lot of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
and it was just so welcoming and cozy, especially the bed, which might very possibly be the best mattress I’ve ever slept on
While away, we took advantage of the fact that nothing and no one was dictating what we did for 56 hours and we just plain old enjoyed ourselves and had fun…
of course, enjoying great food, awesome drinks, good sights, and just being silly.

Ultimately, it was much more about us just focusing on each other and just remembering exactly why it was we got married in the first place, what made us decide to live the life we have, and focus on what we’ve been fighting so hard for these past two years.
As much as it was a brief amount of time, it was just enough to recharge and put our focus back where it should be again,
on us.
