good Lord. the stress.

So, we moved.
We’re in our new home.
Sort of.
Meaning, we’re here, but , HOLY COW, we’re only sort of “here”.

Not the easiest to moved when the kids are in school, we have stuff in storage and at my mom’s house, and not only is Will sick, but our dog… was pregnant.
I say “was” because the day we moved in (2days ago) she gave birth to 2 puppies.
{Side note: we didn’t know she was pregnant}

The sad part of this story is that Lucille, our dog, was very obviously still pregnant but her labor stopped.
So, I had to take her to the vet where they attempted to restart her labor with shots of pitocin.
And I sat and waited,
and waited,
and waited.
And nothing happened.

The doctor came in and gave me 2 choices…
a $2000 c-section or put her to sleep and I raise the 2 puppies.

As much as it would seem like an easy answer, it wasn’t.
We JUST closed on our home.
We don’t have $2000 to pay for our dog’s surgery.

My heart sunk.
And just as I was thinking I’d have to say goodbye to Lucille…
she gave birth.

My heart.

So, we went home hoping she’d deliver the rest of her puppies naturally.

She didn’t.

So, yesterday, the vet called me and we took Lucille in
for a c-section.
They delivered her 3 babies.
One survived, two didn’t 🙁

I brought Lucille home to our new home last night and she took to being a mom wonderfully.
She and the babies were all doing really well today.
However, sadly, the little puppy that was delivered via c-section died this afternoon.

I’m sad but glad to say the other puppies seem to be thriving.

So, with all of this going on, you can understand why my house is in a shambles, my diet went out the window, and this is the first I’ve been online in days.

((hugs)) I'm so sorry! I bet the puppies are cute though!

They are! So teeny tiny since both mom and dad are small dogs.
When things settle down, I'll post some pictures.

Oh Debi…..I am so sorry……saying prayers for all of you <3

Mum-me March 8, 2012 at 7:41 pm

When it rains, it pours … so the saying goes. I'd say you've been going through a torrential downpour of "happenings". Hope the surviving puppies continue to thrive and you can get your new house set up to your liking. And hope Will is better soon too.

No kidding.
I actually just used that same saying while talking about how hectic our life has been.

Incidentally, Will is feeling much better. Thanks for your good wishes. He has croup. Ack! (Crazy weather!)

Youre telling me. Sheesh! It's insanity!
Thanks for your good thoughts.
You and me both 😉

Jesus, Debi, I hope things slow down a bit and you can relax. Or at least that things slow down while you finish to settle down. If there is anything I can do for you let me know. xoxoxo

(((hugs))) sorry to hear about the puppies, and the stress. I really think that is worse then moving with a newborn! I really hope that things start to slow down and that life gets a little easier.

What a crazy situation – my blood pressure would have been through the roof. Thinking of you and those puppies!!

By the end of yesterday, my head hurt SO badly from stress and crying. It was awful.
I'm just so glad they all seem to be doing well now.
Thank God.

So sorry to hear about all of the stress, but also happy that you are in your new home. I will continue to pray for you and your family and will anxiously await the photos.

Heather March 9, 2012 at 2:51 pm

Oh no! I was devastated to hear that she lost some of her puppies. 🙁 Total animal lover here, btw…if we didn't already have two rescue dogs in our apartment, I'd be asking if we could adopt one. 🙂

debi9kids March 9, 2012 at 5:23 pm

I am honestly not an animal person, but my heart was broken with all of this.
Lucille is part of our family.
Just very thankful she's ok.

Barbara Manatee March 9, 2012 at 5:52 pm

jeez…can't anything be easy!? So sorry for the latest. Poor puppies! Hope Mama and the surviving babies are doing well and you can get settled in this weekend!
