First, before I get into anything, I just wanted to say…
HOLY cow!
This button I created:
has been pinned more than 1000x on Pinterest!
AWESOMENESS!
(and in case you want to pin it too:
You know, because you wouldn’t want to be left out
)
SO much has been going on!
First off, I have FINALLY been able to join all of my hipster friends and now I have an account on Instagram.
Yea me!
Now, it really wasn’t all my fault.
It was my stupid Droid.
(of course, it was me who decided to buy said Droid…)
And, speaking of Instagram…

Yesterday, my 4 oldest kids had a BIG track meet.
It was a BIG one because it was against our school’s rival and while all four of my kids were a bit nervous as they left for school in the morning, they all seemed confident that our school would win the meet.
Turns out, they were RIGHT!
I wasn’t able to do much more than show up at the track & drop off baked goods I made for the bake sale,
snap a quick picture of the track before the meet began,
and quickly wish the kids luck because I had to return to sick kids at home.
However, Steph did call me, mid-meet, screaming into the phone that she had done well and that their team was going to win.
(makes me sad that I have to miss moments like that)
At the end of the day, I went back to the school to pick up my four kids and they were all just…
gushing with excitement.
I got them to stand together for a quick picture and then we were on our way home,
with them filling my ears with stories from the day
And, well, speaking of sick…
Someone has been sick in our home for the past 2 weeks and LORD, it is exhausting.
It started with poor Nanny Deb catching a chest cold and then just slowly spread from one child to the next and then sadly back to Debbie right before she went home.
Right now, it’s my three youngest that haven’t been feeling well, which makes for three super cuddly, yet extremely sweaty, children who all want to fight for space next me 24/7.
(here’s hoping I manage to remain healthy, as I’m the only one who hasn’t caught this bug yet…) < knock on wood!
As for me, what I have been doing, for the first time in years is losing weight!
I have hesitated even mentioning it for fear of jinxing myself, but so far, so good.
It’s slow going, but it is happening.
And, thankfully, I have a great bunch of friends who have all decided to do this diet together, so we’re not only keeping one another accountable, but we’re supporting one another and that is amazing.
and, I almost had this amazing thing happen…
almost.
YEARS ago, I was approached by someone from MTV to do a show about my family and I turned it down because, well, it was MTV and we are a conservative Christian family and I could just imagine the “twist” they would’ve put on our story.
Of course, years later, when Russ cheated, I can not tell you how very thankful I was that we weren’t on TV surviving infidelity in front of everyone to judge us like Jon and Kate had to do. (that was painful to watch!)
Then, about 6 months ago I received an email from a producer from OWN to be on their show Unfaithful to discuss how Russ and I have survived infidelity.
I turned it down.
It’s one thing for me to go into my feelings here.
It’s quite another to go into all of the sordid details on a television show.
Thank you, but no.
All this brings me to the last few weeks…
I was approached again to be on a television show…
To lose weight.
I was going to be given a personal trainer, a nutritionist, and counseling.
It was going to be… wonderful.
A God send.
Alas, it was not meant to be.
I said yes, and the show was canceled.
(of course it was!)
So……
if there are any producers out there reading, who want to help me lose weight, motivate me, help me with a little counseling…
I am ALL for it!
Please, reach out to me ![]()

Ah – Instagram, my new favourite toy!
mine too
My kids LOVE track … a favorite sport for many of them.
I’ve had a sick young one for the past 3 days, and he wants to “snuggle” all day every day. I LOVE to snuggle, but can’t quite spend 24/7 doing it.
If you find a producer who wants to help you lose weight … please pass along my name. I need HELP. Wishing I had a group of friends for support and encouragement in this area.
Hope the ugly bug scampers out of each of our houses very soon, without attacking us busy mamas.
Hope your week is BLESSED!
Laurel
Sadly, my friends are online. (I don’t have any friends locally that I really get together with often…)
If you want, Laurel, I’ll email you and we can support one another as well.
I lost 30# in the Fall of 2010. Then my life fell apart all around me. In the past 8 months I gained every single pound back … and more. So sad.
Are you all on a specific diet? I’d love to hear what you are doing.
Hope your weekend is BLESSED!
Will email you privately
Wow! Not that I want to be on TV but it’s cool to be approached by producers. How do they find you?
They have all said they found me by just searching the web.
Crazy, right?
We’ve gotten approached by producers, as well. I think they look for extra large families who’s lives are falling apart. Ugh! We are so NOT at a place to have t.v. cameras in our face.
MTV approached us before
Congrats to your kids on their track meet!!! What events do they do? I was in track all 4 years in high school and LOVED it! I even almost competed in college – had talked to the coach and had my NCAA papers ready to sign…but decided being a student and needing to get a job was a bigger deal than competing. I did hurdles, long jump, and high jump but my best events were shot put and Discus. I even went to states in Discus!!
David does 100 and 300 meter dash and 200 meter hurdles.
Stephanie does 300 hurdles, triple jump, and long jump
Gabi does javelin and discus.
Alex all running, no throwing, and high jumping.
It’s insane. I have to run from one event to the other to see them.
or…point them to your sweet SIL’s blog who has WAY more weight to lose!!!
Oh I adore Instagram and it’s geat seeing you there. Hope all are well now and great going on your 4 athletes.
I love getting to see into my friends’ lives literally through their eyes. It’s a beautiful thing
